The City Botanic Gardens of Brisbane was officially commenced in February 1855, with the appointment of its first Director, Walter Hill. This year we celebrate 170 years. Come and hear about the history of the City Botanic Gardens, see how the present gardens have changed over 170 years and find out about why botanic gardens like ours are so important for the future.

Guided walks are led by City Botanic Gardens Volunteer Guides.

Requirements: This walk requires average physical activity, including walking distances up to 500m, possibly some uneven ground but mainly paved paths. Stops are short and mainly for guide explanations. Some short standing periods or sitting if required. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Meeting point: Meet at the Visitor Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology’s Main Drive pathway).

Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
