After 10 years as Curator of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens and Sherwood Arboretum, (and now Special Parks too), Dale is leaving the building! He has decided to go where the weather is cooler (Tassie) and the trees change colour!!! He is leaving on 17 April 2025.
FBBGSA has had a long association with Dale from start up to now. He has always been professional, friendly, knowledgeable and busy.
This photo was taken out the front of his office at Mt Coot-tha , the backdrop being the garden he created and made his stamp on the Botanic Gardens. He told me he did it for the benefit of the Herbarium – of course.
On behalf of FBBGSA Board and its members we thank you for all of the support you have offered us as a group and as individuals. We know the Botanic Gardens will benefit from your plant collection – we can’t wait to get our hands on these plants – just joking.
We have had a friendly and helpful relationship with you and your staff across the gardening members, Team Leaders, Operational staff, Visitors Centre including Welcome and Guides, Admin staff, as well as the Brisbane City Council staff (hope I didn’t miss anyone out – sorry if I did). All of this is due to your leadership skills and encouraging us all to work together.
We wish you well and hope the Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens lives up to the standard set here! We will all be down there to visit in summer!!
Farewell Dale and good luck for the future. You will be missed.
